“Maybe our girlfriends are our soulmates and guys are just people to have fun with.” – Candace Bushnell.
After watching this clip from SATC with Jank earlier today (followed by the what-if-i-had-never-met-you-clip), I got to thinking how much truth this sentiment has for my current stage in life. I am 21. It is the start of my senior year of college. I have my own way of seeing things. I am part hermit/loner, part social butterfly. I have an old soul, young style, and timeless aspirations. I know what I don’t want in life. I cannot imagine letting a relationship hold me back at this point in my life. There is so much to do, so much to see, so much to experience. I am so very grateful for all the wonderful friendships I have in my life thus far. My friends are incredible individuals. I have been best friends with Hayley and Beth since I can remember; I know they will be there for me till the day I die. From best friends in high school, Clare and Neleigh, to my study abroad friends in college, I cannot believe the fortune I have had to know such amazing people. Through Aphi, I have become best friends with Jank, Jen, Linds, and Haley. I know it is these friendships that have defined my life up until now. Thankfully, I do not feel the pressure that so many of my peers feel to hurry up and find empty relationships just for the sake of being in a relationship. I have amazing friends and for me that is more than enough.
